AMETEK ECP Introduces New SMPS Hermetic RF Connector With Improved Performance Ahead of OFC 2016

NEW BEDFORD, MA— AMETEK Electronic Components & Packaging has introduced the SMPS (Sub-Miniature Press-on-Sub-micro) hermetic miniature RF connector ahead of this year’s Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference, March 20 to 24, 2016 in Anaheim.

The SMPS is the latest addition to AMETEK ECP’s line of hermetic, push-on and blind-mate RF connectors, which includes the SMP and SMPM connectors. The SMPS is smaller than the SMPM connector, which makes it an ideal choice for high-density packaging and multiport applications. The SMPS is capable of frequencies up to 65 GHz, exceeding the 40 GHz maximum frequency of the SMPM connector.

Along with the newly-patented S-Bend Ceramic Feedthrough unveiled at OFC in 2015, AMETEK ECP continues to increase its presence in the RF and Optics markets with new product developments.

Testing of S-Bend Ceramic Feedthrough prototypes is well under way with initial performance results of 35 GHz frequencies and greater. Beta designs are intended to reach 50 GHz.
